Heading to Autumn / Ku jesieni

Image
Summer is finished and it was a good one, wasn't it? Warm, sunny and so rich with colors and tastes. I had to capture its fading away: Lato się skończyło, a piękne było wyjątkowo, prawda? Ciepłe, słoneczne i takie bogate w kolory i smaki. Bardzo chciałam uchwycić ten  moment jego powlnego rozpływania się: I wanted to make a small, frame-able piece just to say "good bye!" to Summer. But it turned a bit bigger (32 x 44 cm) so I better add a hanging sleeve on the back because it is big enough to hang on the wall on its own. It will be available for sale as soon as I add this sleeve - which means it may take ages :) As we are heading to Autumn it is time for some changes in the wardrobe, right? A wyszła ciut większa (32 x 44 cm) i chyba powinnam przyszyć z tyłu tunel do samodzielnego wiszenia.

Little Quiet Village / Mała Cicha

Image
Who wouldn't like to live in a little village? Me :) I'm a city girl which doesn't mean that I don't like little villages - I love them! This new work is a proof. Kto by nie chciał mieszkać w uroczej, cichej wioseczce? Ja :) Jestem zdecydowanie miejska, ale nie przeszkadza mi to lubić takich wiosek, wręcz przeciwnie - uwielbiam je! A oto dowód; Many years ago while coming from Germany we drove through some magic villages, with very specific architecture. I remembered the name of the area and some years later we went there to see more. You see what I mean? All the roofs look like knitted Nordic pullovers. This is the Eastern part of Germany called Lusatia . I was more than sure that one day I will use this idea in my artwork. Widzicie, co miałam na myśli

Nasturtium Day / Dzień Nasturcji

Image
With the amount of light available right now thanks to the beautiful summer weather, it feels much better to create and sew than to blog about it. But as I saw a nice picture of someone's nasturtium this morning, I decided to make it Nasturtium Day and share one of my latest accomplishments :) Mając do dyspozycji taką ilość światła jakiej wspaniałomyślnie dostarcza nam tegoroczne lato, postanowiłam wykorzystywać ją raczej na tworzenie i szycie niż pisanie o tym. Ale dziś rano zobaczyłam gdzieś śliczne zdjęcie nasturcji i pomyślałam sobie, że skoro to Dzień Nasturcji to może pokażę swoją :) This project was waiting for some years now. I hand dyed the background fabric and it told me it wants to be nasturtium's foliage. I said "no problem" and put it aside for the proper moment to come. It came this year. Odłożyłam do przegródki "nastu

Brazilian coffee in the orchard / W sadzie z brazylijską kawą

Image
How to "go Brazilian" if you're not a football fan? That's easy - with coffee! If they deliver 1/3 of all coffee in the world, I guess I have some in my kitchen. Not so long ago I joined a nice virtual group on G+ "My Coffee Addiction". The only thing we have in common is our love for coffee. I joined them just for fun, but it turned out that it gives me something else - inspiration. "Morning wave" you see above came from this "mug shot" of mine: Jak być "brazylijskim" jak się nie jest piłkarskim fanem? To proste - ta pomocą kawy! Ta "poranna fala", którą widzicie powyżej to z mojego zdjęcia z cyklu "zdjecie kubka": And last week I took anoth

How does my garden grow? / Od łyczka do rzemyczka...

Image
Here is my experimental project (sounds good, doesn't it?) - growing the textile garden. Experimental part means I wanted to document the whole process of growing. From the first seed: A to mój projekt eksperymentalny (dobrze brzmi, prawda?) - uprawa tekstylnego ogrodu. Eksperyment wiązał się z dokumentowaniem wszystkich etapów rośnięcia. Od pierwszego nasionka: To the full blooming flowers and trees: Do kwiatów i drzew w rozkwicie: You may see all the pictures HERE , but if you don't have the patience, see the speedy version: Efekt eksperymentu możecie obejrzeć TUTAJ , ale jeśli nie macie cierpliwości to proponuję wersję przyspieszoną: It starts from a seed... from Bozena Wojtaszek on Vimeo . Hope you're not bored, but if - sleep well :) Mam nadzieję, że Was nie zanudziłam, ale nawet jeśli - to śpijcie dobrze :)

Kitchen landscapes / Kuchenne krajobrazy

Image
I don't know about your kitchens, but mine, at this time of a year is a jungle :) Very impressive, especially compared to the early spring: Nie wiem, jak Wasze kuchnie, ale moja o tej porze roku wygląda jak dżungla :) Robi wrażenie, prawda? Zwłaszcza w porównaniu z wczesną wiosną: No wonder that one day I decided to capture all the different landscapes I can see around on daily basis. That's how my new serie of "Kitchen Landscapes" was born. Nic dziwnego, że te codziennie zmieniające się krajobrazy  zainspirowały mnie do stworzenia nowej serii "Krajobrazów Kuchennych". They are small textile collages rather than quilts (although they are quilted and embroidered and beaded too). Would be perfect for book illustration, although I didn't find a book for them yet. That's why I decided to experiment with them in printed version. As I mentioned in previous post - printed landscapes are available HERE . The jungle is not translated into fabrics

Small jewels / Klejnociki

Image
Let's state it up front - the big fan of stone gardens I am not. But sometimes things happen, not even asking if you are a fan. First, I went through this post about Alpine Garden in Wave Hill and liked the way author described the plants like a "miniature jewels". Tak zrodził się pomysł: As if it wasn't enough, the next came the book. No, not about plants - about mothers-daughters relationship ( sorry - it's in Polish only ... yet?). I'm not a big fan of this sort of books either. What I like in this one is author's approach - instead of blaming her mother she is trying to learn on her mother's mistakes. A potem zdarzyła się książ
