The Textile Cuisine

Here is my experimental project (sounds good, doesn't it?) - growing the textile garden. Experimental part means I wanted to document the whole process of growing. From the first seed: A to mój projekt eksperymentalny (dobrze brzmi, prawda?) - uprawa tekstylnego ogrodu. Eksperyment wiązał się z dokumentowaniem wszystkich etapów rośnięcia. I don't know about your kitchens, but mine, at this time of a year is a jungle :) Very impressive, especially compared to the early spring: Nie wiem, jak Wasze kuchnie, ale moja o tej porze roku wygląda jak dżungla :) Robi wrażenie, prawda? Zwłaszcza w porównaniu z wczesną wiosną: No wonder that one day I decided to capture all the different landscapes I can see around on daily basis. That's how my new serie of "Kitchen Landscapes" was born. Nic dziwnego, że te codziennie zmieniające się krajobrazy  zainspirowały mnie do stworzenia nowej serii "Krajobrazów Kuchennych". They are small textile collages rather than quilts (although they are quilted and embroidered and beaded too). Would be perfect for book illustration, although I didn't find a book for them yet. That's why I decided to experiment with them in printed version. As I mentioned in previous post - printed landscapes are available HERE . The jungle is not translated into fabrics

Let's state it up front - the big fan of stone gardens I am not. But sometimes things happen, not even asking if you are a fan. First, I went through this post about Alpine Garden in Wave Hill and liked the way author described the plants like a "miniature jewels". The idea was born: Zaznaczam na wstępie, że nie jestem wielką fanką skalniaków. Ale czasami rzeczy się zdarzają, nie pytając nawet czy jesteśmy ich fanami. Tak więc najpierw zdarzył się ten post o ogrodzie alpejskim w Wave Hill i bardzo mi się spodobało, jak autorka określiła skalne roślinki mianem małych klejnotów. Tak zrodził się pomysł: As if it wasn't enough, the next came the book. No, not about plants - about mothers-daughters relationship ( sorry - it's in Polish only ... yet?). I'm not a big fan of this sort of books either. What I like in this one is author's approach - instead of blaming her mother she is trying to learn on her mother's mistakes. If you thought I'm done with hens for some time, you were wrong. The idea may seem strange but I had to make an illuminated hen :) Jeżeli myśleliście, że na jakiś czas mam dosyć kur, byliście w błędzie. Pomysł może dziwny, ale musiałam zrobić taką iluminowaną kurę :) There's a lot of different birds in Medieval art, so one more wouldn't really hurt. W średniowiecznej sztuce mnóstwo jest przeróżnego ptactwa, więc i ta nie powinna nikomu przeszkadzać. And you know very well that I like the combination of hen and gold, right? Just in time for Easter but totally not Easter related :) Temat niby na czasie, ale z Wielkanocą nie ma nic wspólnego :) It also has nothing in common with ladies' party. It is just about the hens. Nie chodzi również o wieczór panieński (po angielsku "hen party"). Chodzi po prostu o kury. Hens love to party from time to time, right? Especially in Spring. One też lubią się czasem zabawić, prawda? Zwłaszcza wiosną. So let them have a ball! No to niech się bawią! This quilt is a side effect of my work on a nice order for many hens. I didn't suppose it can be so inspirational. But pssst..... now they have to sleep for awhile :) Ta praca powstała przy okazji pewnego miłego zamówienia na dużą ilość kur. Nie przypuszczałam, że będzie aż tak inspirujące. Ale cicho sza...... teraz muszą odespać :) Happy Easter everybody! Wesołej Wielkanocy wszystkim!

Maybe not outside the window, but in The Textile Cuisine definitely - it's Springtime! Może jeszcze nie na zewnątrz, ale w mojej Textile Cuisine zdecydowanie - wiosna! So I will just show you what I'm up to, both in the kitchen Więc tylko Wam pokażę co mnie teraz zajmuje, zarówno w kuchni and in the garden: jak i w ogrodzie: It's good to have longer days and more sunlight - everything became bold and vivid: Bardzo to miłe, że dnie są już dłuższe i słońce jaśniej świeci - kolory od razu nabierają intensywności i mocy: Hope to see the real Spring in full bloom as soon as possible! Mam nadzieję, że ta prawdziwa wiosna też wybuchnie tu lada moment!

If you thought that I had a very long start into a new year, you were wrong :) I'm live and kicking since the very first days of January and here are the proofs. Jeżeli myśleliście, że tak wolno się rozpędzam, żeby zacząć nowy rok, byliście w błędzie :) Jestem w nim i działam od samego początku, a tu są dowody. I started from the gardens.
