Wild strawberries in the process / Poziomki w robocie

Still filling the background... But it is quilted now and framed. Ciągle wypełniam tło... Ale są już przepikowane i wykończone ramką.

Wild strawberries / Poziomki

When I started looking around for an interesting heart shape strawberries first came to my mind. So I wanted to learn about their presence in Middle Ages. www.coquinaria.nl Oh, wild strawberries, great! They are even better - sweeter and prettier. Kiedy zaczęłam szukać jakiegoś ciekawego "sercowego" kształtu, przyszły mi do głowy truskawki. Nawet lepsze - ładniejsze i słodsze. So I reached to my " B ible" - "Illuminated Page" by Janet Backhouse, wonderful book about ten centuries of manuscript painting. And it turned out that wild strawberries are everywhere. A więc sięgnęłam do mojej "Biblii" - książki "Illuminated Page" Janet Backhouse o dziesięciu wiekach manuskryptowych ilustracji. Okazało się, że poziomki są wszędzie. I've found them also in "1001 Plant and Floral Illustrations From Early Herbals" by Richard G. Hatton. Znal

Towards the hearts / W stronę serc

Let's put commercial part of Valentines aside. Let's think about heart. Do you remember how Babette's cooking has melted cold northern hearts in the old movie "Babette's Feast"? And how important cook's feelings during the process are for the eaters? If not, just go and watch "Like water for chocolate" or "The Ramen girl". And remember - always cook with the heart. If not - call for the pizza. As for the above hearts - do you know where did they come from? From the forrest :) Odłóżmy na bok komercyjną stronę Walentynek. I pamiętajcie - zawsze gotujcie z sercem. A jak nie - to lepiej zamówcie pizzę. A co do moich

They are in the quilting process. It is my favorite part of work so I thought I'd share just some pictures of it. Teraz faza pikowania. To moja ulubiona część pracy, więc pomyślałam sobie, że po prostu pokażę Wam kilka fotek. Quilting the white silk is really like going through the cream (sauer cream) needed for this salad.

Happy Birthday!

Image
Once a year you are allowed to make something for yourself, aren't you? So I made a birthday cake for myself. No to ja zrobiłam sobie urodzinowy torcik. It was a good oportunity to use all those precious bits and pieces I've collected for years but never use because of their special value (for me). It was also a good use for the gifts from dear friends which I didn't want to use in works for sale. This quilt will stay with me and will hang on the wall every year around 4th of February as a gentle reminder (for those who dare to forget) :) Ta praca zostanie ze mną i co roku w okolicach 4.lutego zawiśnie na ścianie jako delikatne przypomnienie (dla

So now when all the ingredients are being put together the only missing part is texture. Let's go for quilting... Teraz, kiedy mamy wszystkie składniki połączone ze sobą, jedyne czego brakuje to jakaś faktura. Przechodzimy do pikowania... Yes, I know, it doesn't look so yummy now. But believe me, it is a very good salad and I will do my best to convince you to. Just give me some time, you will love it. I also found a good source of inspiration (both for cooking and for sewing) at this site about leeks: http://gherkinstomatoes.com/2008/09/22/its-leek-to-me/ The legend says that king of Wales ordered his soldiers to stick sprigs of leek in their caps, so that during the tumult of battle Welsh troops could be distinguished from those of their enemy. And even Shakespeare wrote about it!
