Auriculas Theatre / Teatr wiosny zaprasza

Image
I had to put Auriculas into the title just in case you wouldn't recognize them in the picture :) So, it is not that I was going to sew hen ornaments but instead switched into primroses. No, the idea of this art quilt was born 3 years ago, when I learned about Auriculas Theatres. I guess, the first time I saw it was in Janet Haigh's book (take a look at her blog where is even more about her take on this subject). But then came the book about Mrs Delany and her lovely flowers or wonderful gentle author's Spitalfields blog posts . So the idea was born and seemed easy to do.

Fragile Art / Porcelana

No, it was not done on purpose. When I reached to the cupboard for this cup (it was the best match to my piece) it turned out to be broken. As we didn't have any earthquakes lately (as if we've ever had) it had to be my high concentration and a bit too intense work put into this "Porcelain" art quilt. Now you know why I don't make portraits :) Nie, nie zrobiłam tego celowo. Teraz już wiecie, dlaczego nie szyję portretów :) You know the story behind it, right? If not - look HERE . As this meticulous handwork may not be quite visible in this picture, I will support you with some details: Pamiętacie, skąd się wziął pomysł na tę tkaninę, prawda? Jeżeli nie - t

Birds of a feather flock together / Moje ptaszki

Image
If you wondered what has happened with my birdhouse' ideas mentioned in THIS POST - here is the answer. All the birds  landed in their big house. As you can see they have a room with a view :) Jeżeli zastanawialiście się, co z ptasimi domkami, o których pisałam TUTAJ - macie odpowiedź. Wszystkie ptaszki wylądowały w jednym, dużym domu. I mają pokój z widokiem :) Seems that they like it. I'm only afraid so they won't take beads for the seeds. The birdhouse hangs on my wall but I made some prints out of it, so the birds can easily fly to the whole world :) Go see them HERE and alarm all the bird lovers from your neighborhood! As you know I've stitched some birds in the past (look HERE ) but

Where do you get your fabrics from? / Skąd bierzesz tkaniny?

Image
This is one of the most frequent questions I've been asked - "where do you get your fabrics from?". Of course I don't have any secret source for fabrics. I guess it is the way I use them which makes the impression that my fabrics are something special. So I decided to show you this way using an example of this experimental "Birch Forest". To jedno z najczęściej zadawanych mi pytań - "a skąd bierzesz tkaniny?". Here is what I started with. I wanted to make a small art quilt with birches and needed greens for the leaves, brown for the background and black & white for trunks. Brown and b&w was easy, but the greens are always a problem. As I wanted this to be &
